Early in March Tony Harrison, Grand Superintendent of the Province of West Lancashire visited Cuerden with Withy Chapter No 7733 over at Wellington Park, Leyland. He was there specifically to thank Tony Hall, Provincial Scribe Nehemiah on completion of his year as an acting Provincial grand officer of the Province.
Tony Harrison was accompanied by Danny Jones, Deputy Grand Superintendent and two of the Assistants to the Provincial Grand Principals Paul Renton and Ian Cuerden. They were also accompanied by other grand chapter officers, Kenneth Shaw, Geoffrey Lee, Christopher Blackwell, Stewart Seddon and John Robson.
The chapter carried out an exaltation of a new candidate on the evening by adhering to the enhanced exaltation ceremony with Dave Coulson as first principal, Steve Lunt as second principal, and Bill Briggs as third principal with Paul Renton acting as assistant sojourner and Alan Smith taking the principal sojourners role for the ceremony.
The new candidate for the evening was David John Forrest of Ribble Lodge No 4558 who was taken through the ceremony with all the dignity befitting the occasion.
Following the closure of the chapter, all members and visitors retired to have an enjoyable meal, during which Tony Harrison formally thanked Tony Hall for carrying out his duties during his year as Provincial Scribe Nehemiah. Tony also congratulated David on becoming a member of Cuerden with Withy Chapter and he was sure that he would enjoy every minute of his time there. Tony also congratulated the chapter companions on taking on board the enhanced ceremony and commented on how well it was executed.
At the end of the evening Tony Harrison was presented with flowers for his wife in gratitude for him attending the meeting and making the evening so very special; which was appreciated by all who attended.
