FREEMASONS SUPPORT WHITE CROSS REHABILITATION HOSPITAL

White-cross-rehabOn the Friday the 13th February two members of Mitre Lodge safely arrived at the NHS White Cross Physiotherapy Unit in York to make a presentation to the staff.

The donation of £500 was presented by W. Bro. Tom Richardson, Worshipful Master of Mitre lodge, to Marianne Pipes, Ward Sister. Also at the presentation was W. Bro. Neil Reader the lodge Charity Steward, James Palmer, Senior Physiotherapist and Hannah Shilton a Student Physiotherapist. The donation included a grant from Provincial Grand charity of £250.

The money will be spent on various items of equipment such as a ‘Balance Beep Board’ which will help people suffering with balance problems and help reduce the fear of falling and increase self confidence. A ‘Med Plus Therapy Bouncer’, which is a trampoline featuring 36 high tensile medical springs which will provide a softer bounce which is kinder to patients joints.

Neil Reader said “It was an absolute pleasure to meet the team at White Cross Court. We thoroughly enjoyed the visit and the opportunity to find out about what goes on and the good work that is done there.” Neil thanked all the staff for their time and was really impressed by their enthusiasm!

The Freemasons of Yorkshire North and East Ridings and especially Mitre Lodge are delighted to have been able to help the Physiotherapy Unit by donating funds towards various items of equipment.
