Freemasons of John Brunner Lodge 2799 raise money for The Oaklands School Choirs

The Golden Lion in Middlewich organised and hosted a car wash on Sunday 12th February.

members put their backs into seven freezing hours cleaning the cars of Middlewich, along with staff and of the Golden Lion.

£1,000 was raised to go to John Brunner ’s chosen charity which is The Oaklands School Choirs in Winsford.

This £1,000 was boosted by the Golden Lion by £500. This magnificent amount will be added to the £500 already raised by . This gives a grand total of £2,000.

Oaklands is a high school that caters for young people who have moderate to complex learning difficulties.

The catchment stretches from Ellesmere Port, through to Macclesfield and includes, but is not limited to, Chester, Winsford, Middlewich, Northwich, Sandbach, Nantwich, Poynton, and Crewe.

The Choirs (Chamber Choir and Full Choir) perform at various functions and competitions in mainland and in Northern .

In April last year the Chamber Choir travelled to Northern Ireland to compete in the Bangor International Choral where they successfully won their category. They were also awarded a crystal trophy for the best international choir of the competition.

These trips form a broader part of the curriculum as they involve Hotel stays, visits to Restaurants and generally integrating into modern life and society. These experiences are generally not available to these pupils and the funds raised help to ensure they can continue.
