MONDAY 30th MAY – SATURDAY 4th JUNE – Race 10 of John Lill’s Race Challenge
John says –“The training for this event has been extremely time consuming, have spent numerous nights wild camping, in sub freezing conditions, I have covered over 2000 mile on road, fell, dale and moor. taken my advanced course on map reading and night time navigation.
This is going to be an incredible experience, I hoping to raise a substantial amount of cash and will be taking lots of photos during the event, which I will pass on”
SATURDAY 3rd SEPTEMBER – Race 11 of John Lill’s Race Challenge
The City to Sea Ultra is a challenging 55 mile Ultramarathon from Exeter Quayside to Babbacombe Downs in Torquay via Berry Head in Brixham, don’t be fooled by the first 17 miles which apart from a couple of short climbs are flat, because as you leave Shaldon and re-join the South West Coast Path things get challenging, this 9 mile stage is the toughest of the route with over 1000ft of ascent, but it is also very picturesque, the rest of the route is best described as undualting with several ascents and descents but also stretches of flat running. The route has riverside paths, country lanes, woodlands, stunning cliff tops, beaches, harbours and much more. Simply the best scenery Devon has to offer.
John says –
“I ran this race last year, the first 17 miles is pretty flat, then it gets brutal, running the South West Coastal Path”
SUNDAY 30th OCTOBER – Race 12 of John Lill’s Race Challenge
The Stort 30 is a very pretty out and back 30 miles (15 each way) along the River Stort Navigation Channel in Hertfordshire.
John says –
“this will be my 3rd year of running this event, it has to be one of the best events in the country
all information re the course is on the web site challenge running Stort 30”
SATURDAY 5th and SUNDAY 6th NOVEMBER – Race 13 & 14 of John Lill’s Race Challenge
Word of warning this is a Tough Marathon course Possibly the Shingliest marathon around!
The route will be signed and marked at major turns until you reach the coastal path then its simply follow coastal path white acorn signs and the sea. Its a stunning route which will be easy to follow. The terrain will be grassy coastal path and muddy forest track. There is about 8 miles of shingle beach with 4 miles in each direction, this makes it a very tough run especially if its poor weather.
W Bro John Lill is not only an amazing athlete, but also a dedicated Middlesex Mason, being a Past Master of Elliot Lodge, No.1567.
